Hi, I’m Elizabeth doutherd

and I help you stop feeling like an impostor in your own business

by designing & following

a You-Print™ instead of a blueprint.

You can call me Liz.

Before you decide if you want to read on, I’ll tell you 7 facts about me really quickly.

  1. I have been running a blowdry bar since 2016.

  2. I’m an ICF-certified personal & business coach (gotta put that out there).

  3. My dog Bentley healed my heart during some tough times.

  4. I believe that being authentic doesn’t mean not using IG filters or not putting on makeup - that’s such a superficial measurement of authenticity (ask me about my makeup regime, I’ll spill for days).

  5. I’m okay with often feeling out of place. I practice self-care so much so that other people cannot disturb my inner peace.

  6. I don’t love my natural hair the way I should, but I’m working on embracing the biracial me more fully.

  7. My ultimate business destination is to be in light in other woman's business world, someone they can come to for answers, support and trustworthy advice.

That being said, it was a bumpy journey getting to where I am today.

You may think I’m so put together, but I didn’t start out that way. Read on for my full story (I feel so exposed, hehe)…

confidence coaching for entrepreneurs

I wanted to feel good without feeling bad for feeling good.

I think every girl has looked in the mirror sometime in her life and didn’t like the person looking back at her.

We live in a patriarchal society after all…

For the longest time, I wasn’t taken seriously when I spoke about (and practiced) my large ambitions of being a badass entrepreneur.

Even if some people never doubted me with their words, I could see it in their eyes.

Especially men. I know you know it. You know, these moments when a man asks to speak to the “man in charge”… even though you’re boss.

But it’s not just that. There are also the expectations of family and friends, right? Their (unintentionally) judgmental gaze: “can she really do this?”…

I was paralyzed, frustrated, and overwhelmed because I was consumed by the expectations of other people. I wasn’t me, I was what I thought other people needed me to be. And girl, I was so bad at it.

I feel you.

I thought just “thinking positive” would fix it all…

I have always been one to tell my friends, my significant other, and my staff to “ just think positive”. That has been my answer to it all. As if that alone will just fix everything.

Business failing? ‘ Think positive”. Feeling stuck in life “think positive”. Don’t have a solid action plan? “think positive”.

Then I started to break down this “ think positive” theory… this is the moment my heart broke.

I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Why wasn’t positivity my natural state if I was actively trying to be positive all the time?

Shouldn’t positivity come naturally to me by now?

no wonder it didn’t work.

The more I researched, and the more I got vulnerable with myself, the better I understood that we have deep rooted traumas that stop positivity from being our natural state. I needed to appreciate my life journey as a whole. I needed to appreciate it on the deepest level.

Going through this, I learned a ton about myself - but also about human psychology in general. Most of all, I learned that our natural human instinct is to cover up and bury our trauma, anger, and discomfort. We think we are better off without it.

And all this energy spent burying the heaviness? It eats away my willingness and capacity to fully show up in my life and in my business.

“Thinking positive” was never going to fix all that.

imagine how heavy this was…

I figured that I have to look at it. Sit with it. Examine it. Understand it. And take it far back to the very first time I felt crappy. All the way back to my childhood. It took a lot of courage and self-compassion (humble brag).

I explored the moment I learned what shame felt like; the moment I learned what it’s like “not to be loved”; I went back to the first moments I told myself “I can’t do this” or “I will be abandoned”; I revisited the first time I really believed that I would “never be successful”.

I learned that these pains affect my mothering, my relationships, and the success of my business. Most of all, I learned that those pains affect the way I think about and value myself.

This is why thinking positive just didn’t cut it.

i had to ask myself if i was worthy.

Going down this path of realization shattered me. Like girl... it REALLY hurt to look this deep into myself. It shattered my entire inner being so that I could slowly start to put myself back together again and rewire my subconscious to be one that served me.

So now, when I have to tell myself ‘Liz, think positive’… I also ask myself ‘ what part of you triggered this fear, or anxiety, or self-doubt to begin with?’… 'Let’s take a look at it, Liz”.

And this journey can take the rest of your life. Do you understand just HOW MANY triggers there are within us? Are you picturing it with me here?

I thought, what if I could create a program for women similar to me that would dive deep into what prevents them from reaching their goals… while also tangibly working on the business side of things?

ok, liz, I hear you… and like, no disrespect or anything…

but, are you just going to give me a lot of fluff and morning affirmations to practice? 🤢

if you’re looking for a transformational journey of discomfort, we’re a good fit.

I created this business mindset coaching program for women who want to get down and dirty and explore the personal and business side of things.

So, If you are looking for a fluffy, affirmational, self-care morning routine ritual, that encourages you to “manifest your dream life”, this is not the program for you.

I will not encourage you to manifest a life from a place of a lack of self awareness.

I will not encourage you to tell yourself “I am enough” in the mirror every morning until after we have explored why it is you do not already feel that way, where it all started, and how we can transform that belief.

My process will remove you from a place of comfort, and guide you through a transformational journey of discomfort because this is the space where real change happens.

It is not fluffy, it is not categorized as fun, it is the hardest yet most beautiful work you may ever find yourself doing.
